The Chamber's Annual Membership Celebration, formerly the Golden Gala, is held each year to celebrate the past year's accomplishments and honor recipients of the Citizen of the Year Award, Legends Award (a special honor given on special occasions), Ambassador of the Year, and Young Professional of the Year. The event includes live entertainment, food, fun, and great opportunities to network.
The Greenville-Pitt County Chamber of Commerce annually presents its Citizen of the Year Award to honor a man or woman who has made significant contributions to the Greenville-Pitt County community. The presentation of this award dates back to 1967, when Dr. Leo Jenkins (sixth chancellor of East Carolina University) was honored as the very first recipient. The award represents a prestigious recognition by the Chamber of the recipient's commitment and dedication to the advancement of Greenville-Pitt County.

Legends Award recipients are citizens whose service to the community has been so significant in civic, economic, political, humanitarian, educational and/or religious activities over a sustained period that the history of Pitt County could not be written without their inclusion.
