The American Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE) announced that the Greenville-Pitt County Chamber of Commerce was named a finalist (one of the top three Chambers of its size) for the Chamber of the Year Award, the nation’s only award recognizing the dual role chambers have in creating both leading businesses and communities.

The award is given in four categories, according to chamber size, which is calculated based on membership investment income.  Those categories are (1) under $200,000; (2) $200,000 - $499,000; (3) $500,000 to $1 million; and (4) over $1 million.  The Greenville-Pitt Chamber was in category number two.  Other finalists in that category are the chambers in Stillwater, Okla., and Midland, Mich.  The Greenville-Pitt Chamber is the only finalist chamber in North Carolina in any category.

“Being named a finalist for the Chamber of the Year awards is a testament to the new and expanded role chambers play in strengthening the economic vitality of their communities,” says ACCE Chairman Mark V’Soske, CAE, president and CEO of the Toledo (OH) Regional Chamber of Commerce. “We want to recognize those chambers who are leaders in helping their member businesses to grow and their communities to succeed.”

Established in 1914, ACCE is the only national association serving the professional development needs of chamber professionals throughout the United States and Canada. Representing more than 7,000 individuals, ACCE enhances the knowledge, leadership skills, and management effectiveness of chamber executives and their staff through education, benefits programs, trend analysis, benchmarking, and network development. ACCE supports and develops chamber professionals to lead businesses and their communities.

More information about award finalists in all four categories is available at www.acce.org.
