The Chamber

Government Relations - The Chamber serves as the business voice to local, state, and federal government. We monitor issues that may have an effect on the business community and work to keep our members informed. POWER events (breakfast and/or luncheons) are held to give Chamber members a front-row look at government issues that may be of concern to business as well as timely topics of interest.

Issues Management - the Chamber frequently monitors government issues that can have an impact on business, particularly small buisiness. Information is provided to chamber members as well as opportunities for input on particular issues.

Legislative Trips - Trips are organized to Raleigh and to Washington periodically to allow Chamber members the opportunity to interact with elected officials and to learn first-hand about timely issues.

Adult Team Spelling Bee - Held in fall and will support the Chamber's Partner's in Education Program and the hopes of a new leadership-type program for our youth.

Community Unity Breakfast - Held each year on the commemoration of Martin Luther King Jr's birthday to celebrate and further diversity in Greenville and Pitt County.

Leadership Institute - Participants are heavily engaged in community issues and leadership skills necessary to work with those issues in the future. Issues include education, law enforcement, economic development, healthcare and much more. Participants also provide valuable community service.

Community Safety Committee - Committee focuses on community safety and works to recognize those who make it a safe place to live and work.

Fire-Rescue Appreciation Dinner - Held in October and recognizes excellence among fire and rescue personnel.

Law Enforcement Appreciation Dinner - Held in May and focuses on appreciation for law enforcement officials in Pitt County.

Safety Awards Dinner - presented in cooperation with the N.C. Dept. of Labor and recognizes those who make it a safe palce to live and work.

Partner's in Education - an umbrella program for education partnership which focuses on business involvement in education. The Education Cabinet serves to govern the program and to engage businesses in public education. Sub-groups design and implement specific programs.

OASIS - Organizations/Businesses Assisting Schools in Success provides recognition for businesses who participate in assisting Pitt County public schools via time, talent, equipment and/or money.

Faith-Based Education Initiative - The Chamber partners with Communities in Schools and local faith-based groups to encourage after school programs and other assistance from churches and faith-based organizations.

Teen Leadership - a program designed to plant to seed for future leadership; offered each year to 30 of the area's high school students. Students are engaged in community organizations and activities.
